Pregnancy

“In Australia, the peak incidence of postnatal depression is four years after the child is born...[it] is the accumulation of factors from the pregnancy, delivery, and post childbirth.” - Dr. Oscar Serrallach

This doesn’t surprise me when I see so many mothers struggling with depression, anxiety, chronic fatigue, thyroid dysfunction, hair loss, autoimmune disease, and hormonal imbalance long after childbirth.

These life-altering conditions seem to hit us out of nowhere, but our bodies have been slowly drained of all their nutrition and we have no ammunition to fight back.

I LOVE how God intended a growing baby to take the best of us in the womb. Each one of my babies took all the Omega 3’s, B vitamins, zinc, selenium, and amino acids they needed to develop.

But that leaves me pretty stripped.

On top of that, since my babies breastfeed, my milk is going to be providing minimal nutrition unless I beef my body’s vitamin stores back up.

This is why I don’t just take a prenatal during pregnancy. That’s not enough.

I supplement before having a baby to stock up. During my entire pregnancy to maintain. And every day until my next baby is conceived to replenish.

I’m no unicorn. I’ve dealt with debilitating adrenal fatigue, hair loss and a hyper active thyroid in my teens.

It’s only by God’s Grace and high-potency nutrition I have been able to have four babies in four years without “mom brain,” significant hair loss, imbalanced hormones, or depression and anxiety.

I’m more energetic now than I was at 19 . . . but good health is never something to take for granted.
